Our mission
7 Votes helps people make sure the folks they care about are ready to vote. It works one personal text at a time, from you to the people who already trust you.
Why seven
People listen to people they know. A text from a friend has impact in a way an ad or a stranger at the door never will. Seven is a number anyone can manage: family, a few friends, a neighbor, someone from church or work. If each of those seven starts seven of their own, it grows fast.
How it works
- Pick your seven. Choose people you want to start a conversation with.
- Send one text a day. We write a short countdown text each morning. You send it from your own phone.
- Watch them get there. Each friend checks their registration, makes a plan and marks when they’ve voted. You can cheer them on all the way to Election Day.
Your circle and your team
Your circle is your contacts: the friends and family you text. You can add up to 49 people, seven at a time.
A team is for organizations, campaigns and any group that wants to compete on the leaderboard. Each member builds their own circle, and the team’s steps add up to one score on the Teams board. To join, enter the team’s code in the app, or start a team and share your code.
The leaderboard
The leaderboard is optional and just for fun. You earn a step each time a friend marks one on their own link: registered, has a plan, voted. You can see how you rank with your friends, in your state and across the country, plus boards for teams and states. Weekly boards reset every Monday, and an all-time board keeps the running total.
If you join, others see only the name you choose, your step count, your team and your photo if you add one. They never see your friends’ names or how anyone votes. You can also send a quick cheer to someone on the board.
What we never do
- We never ask how anyone votes or who they vote for.
- We never collect your friends’ phone numbers or voter records. For the people you add, we keep first names only.
- We never take sides. 7 Votes is nonpartisan and open to everyone.
